Asa Legacy: Day 1

Asa Legacy: Day 1
(Asa POV)
Today I moved into the giant 60 acre lot that is called 15 Summer Hill Court. It's so peaceful, and even though it took most of my savings, I know it was worth it, even if it did mean I didn't have enough to put up walls to make a full room.

After moving the mailbox and the garbage can a bit closer to the main home, and checking to make sure the foundation was solid and the deck was sturdy, I decided to try my hand at a little painting.

I've never painted before, but I find that I'm kind of enjoying it. It's quite relaxing, and it's very cool to watch the colors spreading across the canvas.

I had just begun my first ever painting when I heard a faint thump and a small yawn. I looked over and saw that a young boy had come to deliver the newspaper. He is the first person to come visit me on the lot, so naturally I was very excited to welcome him.

He told me that his name was Skip Javeed. Naturally, I was very surprised that he'd come all the way up to Summer Hill, because it's quite a ways from the town, but he said he didn't mind.

I would have invited him in, but he said that he had other deliveries to make, so I let him go on his way. He has a little green bicycle of his own, so it's not as bad as if he'd walked to my house, but still...

After Skip left, I figured I'd do a little gardening. After all, that is why I bought this lot. I planted the three lettuces that I found in the refrigerator. I'm wishing on my lucky stars that at least one of them sprouts a healthy crop.

After reading the newspaper that Skip had brought me, (Guitar classes are apparently discounted today, but I don't have the money to attend one) I decided to go back to the canvas and see what I could scratch out.

It took me a few hours, and it was only worth about $3, but I'm very proud of myself. I've decided to title this painting Into the Blue. because of the way the blues really popped in it.

It was already 1:30, but I wasn't hungry in the least, so I decided to continue practicing at the easel. This time I decided to begin on a medium-sized canvas. I know I could go with a larger canvas, and that to limit my working space could potentially limit my creativity, but really, at this point, I don't think I quite trust myself to not completely ruin a good-quality large canvas.

Today I gained to skill points in painting. I painted until 6 pm, when my needs got the better of me and I decided to take a break to use the restroom and to fix myself a little something to eat.

I don't yet have a counter to prepare anything properly, and nor do I have a table to eat at, or even a chair, so I contented myself with a juice box, using the toilet for my seat. It's not the most glamorous lifestyle, I know, but it's better than the floor, I suppose.

At eight o'clock, I decided to turn in so I can be up bright and early tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to checking on how my garden is doing. Hopefully tomorrow, things will be on their way up.

Generation 1: Meet Asa Legacy

Asa Legacy

This is Asa. He is a Young Adult with bright green skin, light blonde hair, and big green eyes.

He is a Pisces who enjoys Classical music, eating Key Lime Pie, and the color Green. This lifetime wish is to grow The Perfect Garden, which is to say that he'd really love to be able to grow 8 different species of plants to perfection.

Asa has just moved to Sunset Valley, where he's heard that the grass is greener than his skin, which by the way, he is perfectly comfortable with. In fact, he likes his green skin, and doesn't mind in the least if you make a joke about how green he is, because he's got such a Good Sense of Humor. In fact, he often jokes that his skin is so green because of how much he Loves the Outdoors. He's a natural with gardening: a Green Thumb who likes to grow his own vegetables, because he's a Vegetarian. He really is such a Lucky guy.

Asa's only just starting out, but he knew he'd want lots of room for the garden he's planning to plant in the backyard, so he decided to buy 15 Summer Hill Court, a gigantic lot up on the hill. He took one look at that great open countryside and was immediately smitten. It cost him a considerable amount of the money he'd saved up in high school, but he was sure that the $14,700 price tag wasn't nearly what the land was worth.

He only had $1,800 Simoleons left after buying his acreage, so he hasn't quite finished his home-to-be yet. He's invested a bit of money on a good foundation and a deck, leaving him with just enough for the essentials: a bed to sleep in, a toilet for the messy stuff, a refrigerator so he doesn't starve to death, a couple of walls to keep off the worst of the weather, and an easel. He doesn't yet have a roof over his head, nor even a door to keep away prying neighbors' eyes or to deter any thieves.

And at $300, the easel is a bit of an extravagance, he admits it, but he  sees it as an investment. Asa figures if he practices at it a bit, he might be able to sell some of his paintings for a little extra cash while he waits for his garden to grow. Until then, he's only got $4 to keep him going until he can find a job, sell a canvas, or raise his first crop. Hopefully the luck that's followed him his entire life will follow him here, and he'll find a means of income soon.

The Legacy Challenge

Yesterday my friend Sierra told me she was going to do something called a "legacy challenge" on The Sims 3, where you must bring your sims from rags to riches in 10 generations. Being a simmer myself, I was very curious about it, as I'd never heard of it. There are lots and lots of rules, but I'm not going to be able to keep track of them all, so these are the ones I'm for-sure following:

0 cheats
1 Founder
10 generations
15 Summer Hill Court

Also:
Family Traits
Patriarchal heir
Heir by bloodline
No premature aging
Lifespan set to Normal
No ambrosia / Resurrection
Traits by randomized selection

Not using:
Points system (too confusing for me)
