Gen1 Ch2: Kiah - First day at work

When I got home, I had a surprise waiting for me in the mailbox -- my very first bills! I was a little hesitant, but also excited, as it was almost like having a landmark moment: the first time I paid my own bills. Luckily, having such a small house, the bill was only §8. I used a little of what I had left over to add a couple necessities to the house, namely some wallpaper and floor carpeting. I also got a small chain-pull lightbulb for next to my bed because I do like to read at night, sometimes.

The next morning, I awoke to another surprise: a raccoon had knocked over my garbage can and gotten into my garbage! Being a little bit of an idiot, I tried to pet it and for my pains got my finger bitten. I hope I don't get rabies. Anyway, the raccoon ran away, and I picked up the mess it had left me.

I felt super excited because it was my very first day at work. I dressed up nicely and headed over to Barney's for training and stuff. And wouldn't you like to know? Almost as soon as I got there, I got a request for a makeover!

My very first customer ever was a nice elderly lady named Ma. "Mah naime is Ma, Ma Bagley. Most ever'body calls me Ma," she told me in her warm, comforting voice. "Ah would like you to he'p me figur out somethin' nice to wear to mah neighbor's graduration. It's a nice, formal occasion, and I don't really have any ideer what to wear!"

Of course, I had to help her then! She was so sweet, nobody could turn her down. I decided to give her a glamorous silvery-grey coat lined with Siberian Tiger-striped fur and a custom hat I designed myself. It made her really happy, which of course pleased me. And she was so nice afterwards; she tipped me §10!
After Ma left, I had a quick chat with Nellie, who, like me, is a budding stylist. She also had just finished styling somebody. It turned out that Nellie has a wonderful sense of humor, and that she's a natural cook. She told me that it's been like that since she was younger; she just always enjoyed puttering around in the kitchen. Perhaps I'll invite her over sometime so I can sample her cooking.

I really enjoyed chatting with her, even though it turned out she doesn't really like cats. I love cats, so that was a little disappointing. She did like talking about art, though, so there's still hope for her.

Just a few short hours later, I was on my way home after my first day on the job, with §60 more than I had started the day with! Booyah!

Gen1 Ch1: Kiah - Starting Out

The past few days have been full of excitement and general business. The first thing I did after checking out my new home was to find a job, since it's very important that I find the means for survival, now that my parents are no longer alive to support me.

Being an aspiring fashionista, I made my way down to Barney's Salon and Tatoo Parlor (which is clear on the other side of town! It's a good thing cab rides are free, or I'd have to walk the whole way...) and looked around. I watched Nellie Spenster, who already worked there, giving one man a tattoo. I thought it was very cool, and after a few quick negotiations, I was given the okay to work at Barney's. Obviously, I was very excited and grateful for the opportunity.

I wouldn't start work for a couple of days, so I busied myself by going to the art gallery. It's such a wonderful environment, and it absolutely sparks creativity and brings out my artistic side. I was so inspired, I was allowed to use one of their easels and a small canvas to paint my very own picture! It wasn't very good, I'll admit, but somebody liked it enough to offer me 3 simoleons for it, so I sold it to the man, who seemed very glad to have it.

I returned home that night exhausted but satisfied with how my first day in Riverview had gone.

After a quick juice (I really can't afford to buy "real food" yet.) I went to bed that first night, dreaming of the endless possibilities that awaited me in the days to come.

The next morning, I rose at 6 am, ready for the day ahead. I watered the single lettuce head I'd planted the day before, and for good measure, planted a couple more lettuce heads. I figure it might help if I grow at least a little of my own food.

After a very quick breakfast of bread and jam, I got dressed and, seeing as I wouldn't be needed at work until the next day, I took a trip down to the junkyard to see if I could salvage any scrap metal. While it's certainly not the most glamorous thing I've ever done, I was eventually able to sell the 20 pieces of scrap that I did find for §2 each and make §40. It's not much, but hey, anything helps.

After my tryst into the junkyard, I found myself incredibly sticky and dusty and just... really dirty feeling. When I had my house built, I didn't have enough money to afford a shower or even a tub, so I decided to take a nice detour and go up to the River Front Swim Club, the neighborhood's community pool. I took my time in the shower, letting all the muck and grime wash away under the hot water.

Just for a bit of fun, because I saw a couple of other people doing it and because I'm not really the shy type, I decided to go for a quick dip in the pool - a skinny dip, that is!

I had such a blast, swimming about, the water swirling around me. I didn't know anybody else there, but I didn't care. For the first time since my mother's death, I felt free. When I left the club, I was almost a little sad to go, but I knew that I could always go back to re-find that feeling of freedom that surged through me that afternoon.

The 1st Generation: Meet Kiah.

Hello! I'm Kiah, Kiah Laehren, nice to meet you. I'm 20 years old, and I've just made a fresh start here in Riverview. Let's see... I'm an Aquarius, I like cats, and I'm an aspiring fashion phenom and stylist.

My parents were Johann Laehren and Thema Wekesa, and they were German and African. When I was born, both my parents were very pleased, as I was born looking very much like my mother, but with my father's clear blue eyes. They named me Kiah, which means "start of the season". I would have liked siblings, but I don't have any. My mother said they had planned on having more children eventually, but life got busy, and as soon as they were ready to give me a brother or sister, my father was killed.

Sadly, both of my parents have passed away - my father when I was 12, while doing his job as a policeman, and my mother just last year, an unfortunate victim in a drive-by collision. She was driving to work in the rain when a 16-wheeler lost control and struck her car head-on, and she was killed instantly. While it still makes me very sad to think that they are no longer with me, I am glad that they both loved each other and that their deaths were quick so that they did not have to suffer. Still, all the memories of good times that I had with my parents were too painful for me, and so I moved here, to Riverview, in hopes of making a fresh start. My name has never seemed more fitting.

Anyway, welcome to 345 Riverblossom Hills Drive. This is my humble abode. I know it's not much, but the lot is gigantic, and I always did love wide open spaces. I didn't have all that much money after I bought the property, so my home is incredibly tiny right now, but it's enough. I have the essentials - a bed, a refrigerator, and a toilet, and a roof over my head. Hopefully I'll find work soon so that I can start expanding my home and making it really feel like mine.

I really like it here in Riverview, and I have a good feeling that I and my future family will enjoy calling it home for generations to come.

News: Starting Over T_T

Guess what? Thanks to I'm-not-even-sure-what circumstances, all my old game files got removed from my parents computer, so Asa and the Aldens both got deleted. T_T So I'm starting over.

I think I'm going to change the format of my posts, though, to make it a bit more story-like. That way I don't have to go day-by day, and it'll probably be a bit more interesting. And then I can just "go with the flow" and not have to worry so much about "Did I take a picture of this, and this, and this?"

I know only one person's following right now, but thanks for being around to see how my journey's unfolding. I'm feeling good about my new character, so here we go!

Asa Legacy: Day 2

Asa Legacy: Day 2, Monday

I woke up bright and early this morning around 4 o'clock. The sun hadn't even risen yet. I made my bed and then rummaged through the fridge for something to eat. It's still pretty bare, so I settled for another juice box. Nice and sugary. Just what I need for a good day of gardening. After finishing breakfast (if it could really be called that) I went out to check on my garden, and to my delight, I found that overnight my little seedlings had sprouted. Two of the three are rather overrun by weeds, but I haven't yet learned how to pull them properly, so I settled for watering the plants.

The sun rose just as I was finishing tending to the watering. The dawn was beautiful: the golden rays dancing across the green landscaping.

To my delight, I found myself in the company of a rather fat black-and-white cat. I think he looks like a tuxedo cat, but I can't be sure. I also didn't check to see what gender the cat was, but I did give him (or her) a good brushing and a quick go of the "kitty laser game" before letting him go on his way.

After that, I finished tending to my garden and gained my very first skill point. I was very excited, so I decided right away to see if I could find a job to do with gardening.

I picked up today's newspaper (I didn't get up early enough to meet Skip when he dropped it off, apparently.) and rifled through it, searching for the job listing section. I found out that the Bistro is holding an eating contest on Wednesday. I might go to that if I haven't earned enough for a proper meal by then...

The Betatown Broncos apparently beat our Llamas in some sort of sporting event... Ouch... Apparently the Llama Memorial Stadium is also holding a little competition on Friday for people's pets. I don't have one, so that doesn't really apply to me anyway.

The gardening classes are discounted today, I noticed, but with only $7, I don't have nearly enough to attend one of them. For now I guess I'll just have to rely on personal experience to develop that skill.

Finally I reached to job listing sections. The only mention I found of gardening was for self-employment, so I headed up to city hall to register.

A few minutes later, I found myself an official "Cucumber Smasher." It feels great!

I was feeling a bit grimy, so I went next door to the 28 hour Wellness Gym (though how it's open for 28 hours a day in a 24 hour day is beyond me). I took a nice hot shower there and washed off all that grime and dirt that had settled on me while I was gardening.

Afterwards, I quickly went home and finished up my painting from yesterday. I called it "Sinking Cactus Under the Sun" and it sold for $13.

That brought my funds up to a whopping $20 simoleons, but the bills came today, and I had to pay $10 for that. At least that's not so bad, even if it was technically 50% of my funds.

After paying the bills, I went outside and planted the several packets of seeds I'd received when I registered to become a farmer. I planted another lettuce plant, three grapes, a tomato, and an apple tree. I'm especially looking forward to watching that apple tree grow.

All that "dirt-scratching", as my mother would have called it, led to me gaining my second gardening skill point, and I was finally knowledgeable enough to pull the weeds from my previous lettuce plants. It makes me feel good knowing that they won't be suffocating anymore.

I tended the whole garden, and when there was nothing left for me to do there, I came back inside and began another painting.

I've decided to go for broke and attempt a large-scale painting. Hopefully it'll pay off and help out with those bills in the short term. Raising crops takes some time...

After another juicebox, I went straight to bed. I like to be up bright and early.

The Aldens: Day 2

Day 2:
(Albus POV)

This morning I got up and let Seamus out of his crib. I set about teaching him to talk.

He caught on very quickly. Perhaps he'll take after me and be a genius as well.

Meanwhile, Allison, who is a natural cook, decided to make a breakfast of Mac 'n' Cheese. She gained her first cooking skill point in the process.

Afterward, while I ate, Allison decided to continue potty training Seamus. He hasn't quite got the hang of doing it on his own, but I can tell he's definitely more comfortable now.

I went back outside and began work on a new clay sculpture. Not sure what this one will be yet, but I did gain a sculpting point in the meantime. I decided to go over to city hall and officially register to be a sculptor.
Allison said that while I was out, she accidentally clogged the toilet, so she spent most of the day trying to undo her bout of unluckiness...

At least Seamus had a good time. Allie said that the entire time she was wrestling with the plunger, Seamus was plinking away at the Xylophone she'd bought him. Apparently, he's a natural.

We put Seamus to sleep a little early tonight because I had some plans for some alone time with my wife.

Once he was asleep, I led Allie to our room for a little fun... I'm hoping this leads to another little one because I really love children. I'd love to have a big family: five or six children would be ideal.

She fell asleep in my arms afterward, and I soon drifted off, dreaming of my love...

The Aldens: Day 1

Generation 1
Albus m. Allison
-- Seamus
House: DogPatch
Day 1:
(Allison POV)
Today we moved into our home. It's called the DogPatch house, and it's got two bedrooms. Perfect for starting out.

Albus has his heart set on becoming a famous sculptor, so while he began working on the clay outside,
I busied myself with teaching Seamus how to walk. It's a very important skill for him to learn.
Al certainly has a knack for that clay. He finished a chair in a couple of hours and sold it for $18.

Afterwards, one of our neighbors came to visit: Meadow Carpenter-Rhodes. She was glad to welcome our family into the neighborhood.
Seamus needed a quick potty break from learning to walk,

but he was quickly back on his feet. He finished learning to walk not too long afterward!

I left Seamus to play with the dollhouse his daddy bought for him.

I saw this as a good opportunity to prepare some dinner: I made  an autumn salad. Yum!
I fed Seamus in his high chair and then Albus and I ate dinner.

It was getting late, so I put Seamus to bed.

Albus and I turned in for the night. I had horrible nightmares about being forced to swim the English channel, which I would never do in real life because I hate swimming.
